Protect American Farms Poster

For this student project, I created a five-color (six-run) silkscreen poster. This was my first experience with screen printing, and it allowed me to learn the process hands-on. To align each layer accurately, I began by printing a key image in a lighter color as a registration guide. I chose to design a political poster for this project because it was a topic I initially felt the most uncomfortable approaching. In developing the concept, I researched statistics on foreign ownership of U.S. farmland and sized each ear of corn proportionally based on official data. This helped ground the design in factual accuracy while visually emphasizing the scale of the issue. Lex Drewinski’s bold, minimalist two-color posters inspired the poster's flat color style. I adapted his approach to work within a five-color palette for the assignment, focusing on simple shapes and strong visual contrast to communicate my message effectively.
